1/27/2023 0 Comments Traits of a Leader Did you know that in the last year 6 of the 10 members of Local 4075 have been probationary firefighters? With high turn over and new positions added, over half of us are newer to the department. Conditions like this in smaller departments can lead to the need to for individuals to become leaders faster than in larger departments. The goal of Leadership Wednesday is to help inspire future leaders and spark productive conversation. So for this week, here’s a list of positive leadership traits. We want to hear from you! What traits would you add to this list?

1/20/2023 0 Comments Staffing MattersYour Local 4075 Firefighters cover a response area of approximately 205 square miles, and on duty today to do so are 2 firefighter/paramedics. What does this mean? It means that the City of Elma, as well as the surrounding communities of Satsop, Porter and Malone have either 1 medic unit or 1 fire engine immediately available to cover 911 calls for both EMS and fire. This doesn't take into account EMS coverage to the City of McCleary. In the event of a fire response, state law requires a minimum of 4 firefighters to make entry into a structure, or 3 in the event of a "known rescue". Should multiple calls be dispatched simultaneously, which occurs approximately 20%-25% of the time for our response area, we would have to request mutual aid to respond. Regardless, your firefighters strive to answer the call and to be there when you need us. |
